over on another forum, we caught that one yesterday, and have already discussed it.
I'm waiting for at least one, and possibly two close family members to blow up over it, and I just might keep an eye on the FB of one of them .... just to see if there are any comments worthy of exposing to sunlight.
(Yes, I'm tired of being brow beaten about how terrible SecWar Hegseth is running the WD; how crass evangelical turned minimalist Catholic Vance is; and how Trump really, truly, wants to become Caesar. )
The USAF Is full of assholes and idiots in their officer corps (As a former USAF officer I know from whence I speak). Remember the USAF colonel who made up lies about Trump, as well as told the media about confidential things he 'overheard'?
Sadly that asshole isn't in prison and I don't think he got a dishonorable, which he deserved.
I personally believe it comes from the USAF having too many officers, which came about (partially) from their stupid 'only officers can be pilots' policy. Also, a LOT of officers in the USAF just aren't soldiers. They know they'll never see combat, their fitness is atrocious, and they were losers whose real reason for joining was so they would get 'respect' - as well as power.
I knew technical people who were offered Captain and promised major, because the USAF wanted their technical skills - nobody gave a damn about their officer skills. There just isn't enough pride and professionalism in the officer corps.
I knew a lot of good officers in their USAF, but the percentage of soft, dishonorable, backstabbing, momma's boys, whose word was shit and were utter cowards hiding behind their rank was shocking. They were there to play politics and live out their power fantasies. Not serve our country.
That there were officers in their that sold their souls to him says nothing good about those officers or their former commanders who didn't kick their asses out.
Some AF officers did this during President Trump's first term. And I know of one who was not court-martialed. At the time.
The commander of that base in Greenland, who was relieved fir refusing to post every member of the chain of command in base buildings, is cut from the same cloth, self-entitled fools who relied on political connections for their commission and rank.
Until that flaw is corrected, it will only get worse. 🤷♂️
But perhaps that's what we need to fix the root problems in national defense, starting with the officer corps? 🤔
It's been more than a minute but IIRC enlisted could show up at a protest in civvies but officers could not show up at a protest period. They carry the weight of officorial authority as it were. Officorial is a word if I say so spellcheck.
I already know my brother-in-law will go full commie about this. I also already know that there's no point in telling him why this "gentleman" needs to get hammered.
Wife mentioned this to me when she read it. I was like "ouch thats gonna hurt" first conduct, then being in uniform, and then comments about chain of command. He probably could have gotten away with it but he is a smart cookie and picked one of a handfull of places that got not just national but international coverage. He got his 15 minutes in spades but shot the rest of his life in the foot.
I could be wrong but I think the profoundly unwise Major, at court-martial, can only receive dismissal as a punitive discharge, with similar consequences as a dishonorable discharge for enlisted.

And Obama's sabotage of the military in general but yes.

Can't argue.
Tying into this (from the late Jerry Pournelle's Chaos Manor):

Nope, same rules apply to enlisted too! I got that brief day one in bootcamp!

*sigh*

Such a deal ....

No, officers can also get BCD's. I sat on a Courts Martial where we gave a Navy LT and BCD.
Good to know. Thanks.
