In Florida, Alcee Hastings took a bribe as a judge to rule on a case. He was disbarred, but this was back in the 20th Century, IIRC.
You would think that was that. He ran for Congress, won, and served until he died. He was reelected by people of no ethics and low character.
Our country is populated by people that do not hold others accountable nor do they see the problem with the lack of trust in our leadership. We are more fractured than we were in the 1850s. 🤷♂️
I fear things have to get far worse before a critical number of citizens will stand up and say "Enough" and "I'm your huckleberry."
IIRC judges and prosecutors have absolute immunity (that thing the Democrats keep harping about regarding the President) for actions taken in their professional capacity.
Are judges ever held accountable?

Alcee Hastings is a classic example of Dem politics... Criminal, and still elected time and time again.

I have a hard time accepting that malfeasance falls under immunity. If they get away with it, though, strip them of protections.
"Sorry, your honor, you no longer get a bailiff." 🤷♂️
"What happened to Judge Hastings?"
"He quit? Don't know. Haven't seen him in weeks." 🤷♂️
