While the laws are in force, the idea is to convict as many felons as possible for violating the law. When the law is overturned, those convicted of violating the law while it was in effect are still convicted felons and still stripped of their gun rights, unless granted a full pardon by that state's governor. Stripping people, who are known avid gun owners, of their gun rights is one of the sub rosa objectives of passing unconstitutional gun laws.

They demand sweeping laws and bans to make us safe from gun violence, just as they do to thwart the poisoning of Gaia by mitigating the exhalation of carbon dioxide and the expulsion of methane so that the world doesn't flood from the polar ice caps melting. They settle for crumbs at the end of the negotiations. Every little crumb is a victory for them. The Right pats itself on the back for only making small concessions after reasonable discussions.
