"I gave my first speech on women in sports and title IX when I was 11 years old."

She doesn't sound much different from Greta Thunberg(sp?), does she? 🤔

Communist China will get their money's worth from Eileen Goo. [Whoops. That autocorrupt again.]. 😉

Much like a meal served at a fancy restaurant you gotta admit that Gu has that certain je ne sais quoi of "presentation" that Thunkbug(sp?) lacks.

Makes me wonder how long her contract is for, or how long china can pay the price for her support, or even if she's thought of anything other than money = more practice = more medals? I've just started writing a Space Cowboy story, and plan to focus on that for a bit. If she comes up again I may look into it. 🙂

The glory of America is that she is free to do so. The folly of Man is the path she has chosen.

She has accepted the best economic offer for her skills. You can call it mercenary, but she is not making political speeches in praise of China. I prefer my athletes and entertainers to leave politics out of their performance.

Look at the various speeches by our USA athletes at the Olympics. She looks apolitical in contrast.

Agree, Frank. "Free to Choose: A Personal Statement", a 1980 book by Milton Friedman.

Like it or not, Milton nails it. People's memories will last longer than her $25M.

We only ‘know’ what she’s saying here/now, not what she’s saying in China.

Good point, but if it was favorable to China, then they would probably use it as propaganda and we would know.

In the meantime, she can help build a stronger Freestyle Ski Team for China. Which goes along with the goals of the Olympics. Countries coming together to peacefully compete.

Question: Do you find her actions more questionable compared to the comments/actions of some members of "Team USA"?

I agree with Dale- "Free to Choose: A Personal Statement" what I personally have a problem with is her retaining her US passport rather than 'becoming' a Chinese and staying there. 'That' is what is questionable to me. I didn't like what Lillis and Hess said, especially with all the help they had gotten to GET to the Olympics and had never said anything before. All of them, IMHO, should have replied like the American tennis players when asked the gotcha questions in Australia.
