Funny...
How she toes the CCP line...
Eileen Gu released a statement on social media Monday, reflecting on her controversial decision to compete for Team China despite being born and raised in the U.S.
Gu’s statement tied the decision back to her passion for promoting women’s sports, and encouraging young girls to pursue sports.
“I gave my first speech on women in sports and title IX when I was 11 years old. I talked about being the only girl on my ski team, and, despite attending an all-girls’ school from Monday through Friday, becoming best friends with my teammates on the weekends through the common language of sport,” Gu wrote on Instagram.

It’s interesting how she never mentions anything about persecution of Uyghurs or any other ethnic groups, nor does she ever mention how much money she’s made (estimated to be at least $25 million from China).
Nor has she ever mentioned the Chinese ‘schools’ for athletes, and what happens to those who don’t make the cut.
NO question in my mind she is mercenary, trading on her looks and her medals to get what she wants while she can. And shielding herself by playing the race card, female card, and I don’t know card when she gets questioned.
Is she good? Yes, no question. I can’t help but compare her to Liu and what she went through when she wouldn’t play the CCP game... Opposite sides of the same coin, but different outcomes.
YMMV, IANAL, and the beliefs are my own, based on my experiences with that part of the world.

"I gave my first speech on women in sports and title IX when I was 11 years old."
She doesn't sound much different from Greta Thunberg(sp?), does she? 🤔
Communist China will get their money's worth from Eileen Goo. [Whoops. That autocorrupt again.]. 😉
Makes me wonder how long her contract is for, or how long china can pay the price for her support, or even if she's thought of anything other than money = more practice = more medals? I've just started writing a Space Cowboy story, and plan to focus on that for a bit. If she comes up again I may look into it. 🙂
