Uncle John was a Pearl Harbor survivor. USN 1938-1968. Retired as a GMGC. Uncle John, my dad and my 5 other uncles seldom talked about WWII. Of those seven, 5 were Navy, 1 USAAF and 1 USA. John's son served in the Navy and so did 6 of his nephews and nieces. ...RMSN 4 years, RD2 5 years, ETN2 6 years, PN2 6 years, FTGCS(SW) 24, BUCS(SCWS) 26 and LT 26 years.
Of all my many cousin's kids only one served. 4 years, a Marine. The tradition of service died out. But then the draft was the impetus that got most of the kin my age in. Except I dodged the draft by joining at 17.

My family kinda hit all the services. Army, Navy, CG, Marines, and I 'think' one Merchant Marine.
