Just what, I have to ask, is the radiation level that the nest is 10x over? If it's ten rads per hour, yeah, that would be troubling. On the other hand, if it's a tenth of a millirem per year, not so much. And many more follow-on questions, e.g. what's the isotope spectrum and does it match what's expected at SRS for natural background, or something else?
But, granted, it's more fun to think of radioactive death wasps with phasers strapped to their ass instead of stingers. :-)
Remember "Them!", a 1954 black-and-white science fiction movie about Giant mutated ants caused by atomic testing. Filmed in New Mexico, among other places
The Government found "THEM" after the atomic tests @ White Sands Atomic Test Range in New Mexico. Decided to use them in a movie as a cover-up that the ants had mutated. Moved the entire colony to the Los Angeles storm water drain system, and then killed them all during the filming of the semi-demi-documentary movie.
Let's back up a moment ...

Yeah, SO many questions... sigh
And just try tracking down the original sources - only to find they don't have the numbers you want, either.
That right there tells me journalists have forgotten how to think, let alone how to generate a good line of questions.
wait, I think I've read this comic book as a kid.

Wait. You thought that was fiction?
Huh.

Wait....why should SC get all the superpowers?
