The way is a path for direct to consumer ebook sales. I am going this route in the next year or so. I’m seeing KDP shenanigans with authors that wrong-think according to their progressive values. It’s sad that they are not neutral in publishing. Alienating an audience cuts you prospective market in half.
You're right. Direct sales is going to look better and better. The problem will become visibility to the public as a whole. It was the major benefit to Amazon and other social silos that concentrated audience attention. In a way, this will help slide us back more to the way things were in the 1990's. That won't be all bad, but it will be more difficult.
