And five bucks from FDR? Wouldn't doubt it, considering he wouldn't tip the train porters when he traveled. 🤨

Frankly, $5 is an insult. If he really wanted to help those women, he could make sure that the incompetent generals got nowhere near US troops and sailors.🤬

Sorry, I've been studying WW2 history and getting spun up. 🫤

That's my home town. My mother & Rae were two of the ladies who got the Canteen going.

Similarly, during Desert Storm we got tons of mail addressed to "Serviceman" aboard our ship. That didn't happen in the Vietnam War. I keep telling myself that there is a wellspring of goodness in the American people even if it not always manifest. There is always a way to pay it forward.
