I simply do not understand why all'y'all texans insist on stealin' our north idaho winters...I ain't complainin', mind...It's been nice havin' temps in the 30s, instead of single digits...and havin' bare and dry roads for most of the winter so far...so, yer welcome to 'em...what I don't get is: WHY would ya want em?

We don’t, but your weather is drunk in our front yard! Please come get it!!!

The San Antonio TX channel 4 weather is emphasizing "Protect the 4 P's! People, Pets, Plants and Pipes."

I spent a lot of time growing up in the midwest, where they get WINTER every year. 4 years in Nebraska, 4 years in Kansas, 4 years in Illinois. Then in the Navy, Boot Camp in November/December in Great Lakes, 3 years at NAS Brunswick ME, and deployments to Keflavik and Adak.

So in retirement, we chose a warmer climate.

This is SOUTH TEXAS! It's not supposed to get this cold!

I imagine you are sitting tight, no need to go car skating with the other drivers.

We've got a bunch of leftovers in the fridge and while the oven is electric, the stove is gas. I also have a gas grill outside that I can use as an oven if needs be. I also have a generator that can handle anything important if worse comes to worst.

Oh, and a gas fire place if the electric goes out (heat is a heat pump, so electric dependent). The only gas utility that needs electricity is the tankless water heater, but the generator will easily handle that. So I think we're pretty well set.

North of the storm track here, a weeks fresh stuff bought, coffee, a book, and a recliner in front of the back windows waiting for the snow tonight. Supposed to be 5" or so by Wednesday. Be safe, especially if you have to drive.

Went to Costco yesterday (to pick up my glasses). Decided to see what the storm prep supplies looked like.

Everything was available except bottled water. I watched a dozen or so people look around helplessly, then I pointedly picked up a case of Kirkland Italian Sparkling Mineral Water and put it in my cart.

None of them got the hint. I weep for humanity.

I would fill a bathtub and use that as a source before I would drink sparkling water.

More for me! 😄

Although you could just open the bottle and let it go flat.

just saw a YT short from Belmont Co, OH - trooper in the median - apparently had stopped to check on a pick up spun out in the median, when a bobtail tractor almost "lost it on the bridge" heading west bound but ended up 'on the berm' behind him, and another Suburban class SUV did a 270 across the median in front of him to end up blocking both lanes of the east bound highway.

Thanks for the update. 😀

59° and cloudy right now down here in Baja Alabama. Just the other day I read in one of the local news blogs that the county now has a snow plow. No worries here. That 14 inches of snow we got last winter was a once in every 500 year event. If it gets up above 60° I might have an ice tea on the back porch with my lunch.

09ºF here in western Baylor Co - 1"-2" of crunchy stuff on the ground - House is holding 70ºF with no trouble, used 5% of 500gal propane over night - things are "supposed" to be headed back to "normal" by Tues/Wed - soooo Irish coffe looks good this morning as I look out my windows at the nonexistant traffic on the HWY and watch the distant windmills slowly turning.

All Y'all stay warm and safe and DON" drive anywhere unless it is a life or death emergency.

Stay warm and safe. Our weather is expected to arrive Saturday evening. I will update my Substack after that.
