Personally, I Love to see apparently bored police just sitting around in a public place (Bonus points if there a two cruisers parked driver's doors facing each other) or even off in the fringes, but visible. This tells me that there is not an immediate emergency that requires their attention. If I am able, and it's just one vehicle, I try to talk to them (for just a short while) about how pretty the day is or other such frippery, and then I let them be. Just a quick "I see you" can lighten the load of duty these people (dare I say, citizens?) carry for a short while. The overwhelming majority seem to understand what I am doing, and if I elicit a smile, that's a win for both of us.
Public school is the major portion of that. The other factor is they live in a bubble where they ignore certain inconvenient facts like crime statistics. It doesn't help that those crime statistics are insanely hard, if not impossible, to find. 🤦♂️
Well that and the constant propaganda coming out of the 'news' shows. When I was last in NY visiting family, the neighbor (who used to be smart) was telling me in great detail how None of the Illegal Immigrants were doing crime. None!
Oh, and how all muslims are peace loving people who accept all cultures and sing 'kum-buy-ya'. *sigh*
What annoyed me the most is that he was talking about how great his illegal landscaper (with his 10 yo kid helping him) was, compared to the legal one who eventually just gave up on the business.
He didn't realize that the Illegal paid no taxes, no license fees, no insurance, got free loans, and got free (and illegal, children aren't allowed to work with machinery in NY) help. Meanwhile the kid trying start his own business has to pay taxes, licenses, insurance, take out loans, and can't afford to hire anyone because that costs even more and it makes it impossible for him to compete.
It used to be that an illegal refugee and I am talking about people fleeing for their lives. Lets say Nazi Germany Soviet Russia, were scared or nervous about having too public a presence. Now they are not fleeing for their lives. They are being enabled by people like this stupid woman who doesn't understand that first and foremost a country needs laws, and by coming here and breaking them it just leads to anarchy. Which they this Karen thinks she would like. In a real anarchic society, or a society like the one she thinks she lives in, the cop would have left her a bloody mess. With no consequences to him. Stupid people.
It wouldn't have looked good on camera, but I would have loved to have had him either just roll up his window and ignore her like she was a yapping chihuahua, or have said "Ma'am, you are impeding me in doing my job of keeping the children in this school safe. If you continue to do so, I will arrest you for interfering with a law officer in the performance of his duties. If you resist, I will pepper spray you. You won't like that, I've had it done to me, it sucks."
What truly stuns me is not just that the Karen decided to be the self-appointed Safe Community Czar, but that he POSTED THE VIDEO of her own free will. She's PROUD of how she came across.
I don't know how much longer I can live in a world populated by those who have deliberately and joyfully driven themselves absolutely bugfuck insane.
