The "VP Aircrewman" does in fact look very much like I did, 50 years ago. Except my per diem check was a LOT smaller than that......
That VP Aircrew has a smirk on his face because his P-3 had an ATM machine.
My P-3 never had an ATM. But there was one at the Exchange, and later on, one at the O-club. 21 years in P-3s, and only spent 3 nights aboard a ship. :-)
26 years, 19½ on ships. My last ship, a CG, had an ATM. Open 24/7. That's how they did payday.
