Texan by birth, here. My dad was TDY on an Air Force assignment in 1948 and I was born on the linoleum floor of the Lackland Air Force Base hospital as mom was awaiting admittance to the delivery room. Never actually lived in Texas, but I am a Texan. How fortunate that I have the "Right of Return" to the Republic of Texas should things go sour in the other 49 states. (50, if you count D.C.) They can keep the pre-paid cellphone, hotel voucher and $5000 Visa debit card...I'll make my own way. My older brother and baby sister (1946 and 1949) were born in California. Sucks to be them.

If you grew up on Long Island, way OUT on the island, in the 60's and before all the city and state government a$$hats moved in, and remember what it was like to be able to do things without having to ask the government for permission first. You just might like Texas (the humidity will be just like home!)

If having manners was beaten into your head was something you now appreciated, and people didn't want anything to do with you if you didn't have them, you just might like Texas.

If you don't mind August being 4 months long instead of just 1 - you just might like Texas.
