Ever notice that green/progressive/leftist initiatives usually seem to accomplish the exact opposite of their publicly stated goals?

Of course, many do work more or less as actually intended ... if that's ever acknowledged. A certain quote from the Great Society progenitor re a particular voting block comes to mind, for example.

That's because they're dealing with paper equations and simulations not the real world. It "should" work the way. All their synthetic data says so. Problem is, there solutions cannot handle real world applications, but then they just want other people to suffer the consequences for them instead of dealing with the reality of the world.

Nothing brings death, destruction and misery into the world faster than utopian privileged thinking and governance.

They're not wrong, the universe is.

Equations? I think you give many of them far too much credit.

Just because they're wrong doesn't mean they're not cunning, intelligent and capable. They're just looking at the world through a cracked intellectual lens which skews their understanding. If they were stupid and incapable of intellectual excellence, the movement would have died out a century ago.

Basically it's the exchange from "Manhunter":

Hannibal Lector "And by implication that means you think you're smarter than me.

Will Graham: "I got lucky."

Lector: "I don't think you believe that. How did you catch me?"

Will: "You had disadvantages."

Lector: "What disadvantages?"

Will: "You're insane."

And the Cult of Chicken Little is a cult of the insane for its faith hinges on three key things:

1. The world is perfectable and can be made static.

2. No sacrifice is too small or too large to achieve such a goal.

3. Mankind can control the universe.

And with these three erroneous foundational positions, all their data no matter how finely tuned is flawed, doomed to failure, but at the cost of millions of lives and trillions of dollars in wasted treasure and work.

It's why the green movement is a curse upon the world and their adherants are dangerous parasites no matter how pleasing to the ear, eye and sensibility. The trojan horses that unleash destruction on all who take them inside.

You left out a part of #2

No sacrifice, of someone else, is too small or too large to achieve such a goal. *(and we are willing to make that sacrifice)

Yes. the Lord Farhquad rule. "Some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make."

T. Boone Pickens sold Texas and the US a fantasy back in the 90's and 00's. His name should be cursed by anyone on ERCOT's grid. The madness of the Death Cult of Chicken Little must end.

It seems that the most common sense approach for Germany's energy problems is to restart those reactors ASAP. Being the common sense approach means that it has the least likely chance of being implemented.

Lebenstraum, mir im Winter nicht den Arsch abzufrieren...or something. If I lived in Europe, I'd be checking around to see if they were any proven coal reserves nearby. If I heard or saw any Prussian marching music or goose-stepping drills I'd buy me a plane ticket to Texas, anywhere but one of those small towns in Texas where the geezers still speak German. For me, it'd be easy. I was born in Texas, though I never lived there. Dad was TDY at Lackland AFB and he and mom were just passing through in 1948. I have the Right of Return as a Native Born Texan.
