My family lost no one in Vietnam, thankfully, though many served there. Still, facing that wall is beyond moving, and is something every US citizen should experience.
Those of us who were there thank you. I couldn't force myself to go to the wall until I was retired/ Still cried. RIP all of the heroes of all our wars.
Lloyd the Elder was there from Jan-Dec 1963 to knock out the last two years of his USAF Contract so he could come home and marry mom. The USG finally admitted he'd been in country, as opposed to in theater, in 1992.
Three of my teachers in high school that I know of - there were probably more - were there. One coach was there with 1st AD under Patton the IV. My physics teacher was with the USAF, navigating on Spooky. He got the Silver Star for saving his aircraft. My Senior Military Instructor, a retired Marine Major, also got the Silver Star for his actions there.
Thanks for the numbers. It is good to remember and honor our fallen.
8 kin of my generation served in the Vietnam Era. We were very fortunate to have lost no one. May God give solace to the kin of the fallen.
Absent Comrades, Fallen Friends.
May Their Memories be Eternal!

My dad came home but I got my second mom because her husband died in Cambodia.
