Bingo, Jim! Foreign countries always have a problem with US citizens owning guns. I remember back in the 80s when a foreign exchange student from Japan was led to the wrong house by high school classmates, and the homeowner thought it was a home invasion. That Japanese student ended up dead, and the Japanese press screamed for days about it. That same press didn't have much of a problem with other Japanese high school students flinging themselves out of high rise apartments over failing to pass standardized tests that would advance them to the better schools. 🤷‍♂️

Remember that too. Tragic story. There was plenty of sympathy for the dead Japanese student and his family, but the sentiment to the Japanese press was "STFU...butt out, Bucko, you Rape of Nanking, Kepeitai, Bataan Death March, Unit 731 bastids!" Lived in Japan 2 years. Respect and like the people. But they have no moral high ground to lecture us. Pre-August 1945 they were a cruel, violent people given to wanton, gratuitous slaughter of all the clever monkey proto-hominids who had not been born Nihongo. My father-in-law and mother-in-law both lived under the boot of the Japanese in the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. They had stories to tell. As I recall they got sincere apology for the killing of the student. The world is still waiting for an apology from them for WWII.

Good point, I had forgotten about that!
