But...but Bono received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the same ceremony on January 4th 2025 as Georges Soros, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Hillary Clinton, and Ralph Lauren. I dunno. This hyperbola mud slinging thing is some mathical non-Euclidian quantum mechanics rocket science stuff that sort of misses the mark. But on the other hand, there is that Bono/Putin-Russia connection. Maybe I shouldn't be commenting until I clear up my confusion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bono#/media/File:Vladimir_Putin_21_July_2001-13.jpg

Once upon a time, U2 was an ok band. Bono Vox (What a name? 🤦‍♂️) is a failed celebrity—really an embarrassment to all Irishmen—desperately trying to remain relevant and hip. Kind of like Sting back in the 90s. 😉

So whenever I see Bono's name in the headlines, I expect lunacy. 🤷‍♂️

They were good when they were political, even though I disagreed with their politics. Now, at most, they're just politically correct.

On a 1968 deployment to the Mediterranean I visited the souk in Tunisia. I saw large bags of grains and flour marked with "Hands Across the Sea" & "Donated by the people of the United States of America" for sale. Around the same time, there was a scandal of local vendors selling seed wheat ("purple wheat") infused with a toxic mercury pesticide in the market as a food staple to the populace. Kumbaya altruism most often becomes grift when it reaches the end user.

It would appear that leftists of all stripes need to project, obfuscate, and flat out lie about anything they talk about. Just yesterday someone tried telling me that Israel had starved 2 million palestinians. When asked for a cite, he responded, "I was talking about the potential of their current actions, not a fait accompli." They have nothing but BS.

"BS" is too kind. More like industrialized deception.

a better question is how much of that food ever really existed? How much of the went straight to line pockets, both of various foreign nationals, and of corrupt US employees. How much of the money actually went to various black ops funds? USAID was created as a funding source for some of our more nefarious activities involving the alphabet soup boys. (CIA, CIA, NSA, etc) This is an open secret. I'm not naive enough to think that we don't need covert ops, but I am principled enough to think we should, at least at the civilian oversite level, have some idea of where the money is actually going.

It's known that both sides lie, although the Democrat's lies are more spectacular. Republicans still bend the truth until it breaks. Look at all the long-term Republicans who jumped on the DOGE bandwagon as if getting rid of waste, fraud, and abuse was a new idea. Where were they for the last 50 years while all this crap was happening?

So Democrats tell whoppers and Republicans prevaricate by omission or ignorance. Doesn't make me confident in any of them.

The government does a lot that is not in their purview. I talked about that in https://jacksotallaro.substack.com/p/defense-dollars-and-diplomacy. When the government overreaches the bureaucracy grows larger and in most cases more corrupt. So lies told by elected officials from either party and legislation that goes beyond enumerated powers hurts the people and takes away our God given rights.

Obviously way off topic, but this is what this article brought to mind...
