I remember VEAP, Tiffanie. At the time it was better than nothing. I used to encourage sailors to sign up. Most said they couldn't afford it. The few that did sign up opted out when they got short of cash on any random payday. I don't know that it was a scam but it sure was a POS. People in the All-Volunteer military deserved better. I reckon I was lucky to get the Vietnam Era GI Bill and the Montgomery GI Bill. I used Tuition Assistance, NCFA and some of my GI Bill on active duty and got every nickel of it when I retired.
