There are many traditions surrounding Easter, all of which are lovely and inspiring, but not grounded in fact. I rather prefer to concentrate on the Truth of the Biblical account, which, once properly understood, needs no additional "traditions" to render it more meaningful. It is the singular, central and essential event in the history of mankind, planned from the very beginning, without which our existence would truly be meaningless. The Passover, as meaningful as it is for Jews, properly understood was a foreshadowing of the salvific work of Jesus, God's uniquely begotten Son, who set all of us free of the burden of sin and guilt and whose Resurrection is a promise of eternal life to all who believe on Him. Truly, He is risen and seated at the right hand of The Father. But he is coming again, this time not as a helpless baby destined to die, but as the ever-living King of the universe. We do well to remember this.
