"If your name ends '-D,' you might be a 'leaker.'"
Old Joe and the Navy SEALs.
Alger Hiss under FDR. Heck, the fact that FDR wasn't on the list to be warned about Japanese intelligence puts into doubt that president's ability to keep his mouth shut.
General Washington knew the importance of spying on your enemy. We sure do seem to elect buffoons after him in that regard. 🤬
"If your name ends '-D,' you might be a 'leaker.'" And then you mentioned "Old Joe". Tsk, Sir. Am confident that would Depend on Joe's handlers double-bagging him before he goes out in public. So far they have done a good job because there has been no video of leakage touching cloth. Enough of that inferred ipse dixitry....☺
Let's remember that aside from anyone's security clearance level there is that all important "need to know". So, if some key bureaucrats in the administration deign that "Iran has a need to know" then "poof", it happens. I think all this security clearance shenanigans began when the Clinton administration came in and the vetting standards had to be relaxed somewhat for security clearance background checks. Ditto for Congressmen, Senators and even a President since then. Nah, our elected government thinks it needs the flexibility to tweak things in non-traditional ways in order to grease their agenda. Far better than going in dry. Who are we to second guess the smartest men in the room?
You said it better. My real Naval training began at year 16 when I got "elevated" and consisted of "keep it temperate, Flowers...watch that potty-mouth...stop that strident hyperbole...Geez, your roots are showing again...you don't need to raise your voice...put a sock in it". Before I post things I make the effort to proofread for content and parsing as if I was going over a CASREP or SORTS message, thinking all the while that an error would generate an auto-blast from some basement computer at CincLant or Pac and have the CO miffed at me. I am rambling. The caps in "NO" triggered me. ☺

Dale, there were NO standards under Clinton! Over half his people never got clearances... And routinely left TS documents laying on desks...

We used to know how to deal with traitors and spies like this. Pretty simple process. Ask the Rosenburgs.
