Just after 0830, Jace keyed his radio. “BHR Control, Gunfighter 202, flight of four Vipers, ten minutes out of Pendleton.”

“Gunfighter 202, have you on radar, you are cleared direct BHR, clear deck at this time. Expect spots five, six, seven, and nine. Shut down, immediate fold, and standby for tow to the hangar deck.”

“BHR, Gunfighter 202, copies cleared direct BHR, spots five, six, seven, and nine. Shut down, immediate fold, and standby for tow to the hangar deck.” He snorted as he keyed the ICS. “Corporal Hayes, I think you’re gonna be a bit busy as soon as we hit the deck.”

The young plane captain’s laughter came clearly through the ICS. “That’s fine, Sir! It’s worth it for the ride out. First time I ever got to do this, is that the ship out there at…eleven o’clock?”
