Keep coming at CBS, with Bari Weiss revamping 60 Minutes this time...
In a bid to remake the country’s top-rated news program, Bari Weiss, the editor in chief of CBS News, on Thursday unveiled an overhaul of “60 Minutes,” replacing the show’s executive producer with a tech journalist and firing two of its on-air correspondents.
Ms. Weiss named Nick Bilton, a former New York Times technology columnist and a filmmaker who has directed and produced documentaries for HBO and Netflix, as her pick to lead the 58-year-old Sunday show. Mr. Bilton, who has never worked in traditional broadcast news, will replace Tanya Simon, who had been at the show for more than three decades.
CBS News also fired Cecilia Vega, the program’s first Latina correspondent, and Sharyn Alfonsi, whose segment on torture in Salvadoran prisons was pulled off the air abruptly last year by Ms. Weiss, who requested more reporting. It aired in full at a later date. Draggan Mihailovich, the executive editor of “60 Minutes,” was also fired, as was Matthew Polevoy, a senior producer.

The Times, in their ‘infinite’ wisdom, keep pushing the narrative that Weiss has no experience in television, but she does have actual news experience. Seems like she is bringing in people who also have actual experience...
I haven’t watched the show in years, and probably won’t watch the ‘new’ version either. But if you enjoy that stuff, feel free...
IMHO, the current show is a pale imitation of what it originally was, leaning more and more left, and more about politics than actual documentary reporting. Much the same way Meet the Press went from a hard hitting interview program under Lawrence Spivak to the pale shadow it is now (another show I no longer watch).
Most of those shows today are filled with talking heads, spouting whatever emailed talking points they and the interviewer got from their handler(s) that morning. And I’ve got better things to do than listen to that crap.

I can remember when 60 minutes was a not-to-be-missed television show. It got talked about at work with friends the Monday morning after it aired. Looking back, I don't know if I am disappointed in the show's drop in quality or am pissed that I was a hapless dupe for so long before I quit watching it. But I won't be tuning in again. Gah! Dan Rather used to be one of the show's most trusted agents. I am galled at being gulled. :(
