The Destroyer Tender in Marseille, France couldn't certify any VA disabilities and I was one month away from retiring after Desert Storm as soon as the ship hit CONUS. Burnt out from sleep deprivation at age 43, didn't want to extend my active duty to get "VA certified" stateside. No regrets. Even gave them back the 34 days leave. I wanted out that bad and did not want to be called back from Pensacola (on a rare free weekend) to Mayport to write a 5 line SORTS message again. I like the concept of tele-medicine. Locally, we were forced into it during the COVID kerfuffle. I like the concept, but only if it is voluntary. I wouldn't voluntarily want to have such a doctor's appointment for hemorrhoids or a possible skin cancer inside my ear, though. And, I do not like co-pays and avoid them where possible. Weren't we promised "free healthcare for life" if we did our 20? I did 26.
So I’m not the only one seeing their comments chopped off halfway through. I know I typed the rest into the box before sending (on another post), but it seems that some temporary save point was used instead of the state at which I pressed “send”.
That used to happen when I used the old Patient Portal to contact the Pensacola Naval Hospital to do business. The damn thing would time out as a typed furiously with both index fingers and had to make many corrections owing to my inability to control where my fingers pointed and the keyboard so far away to see. I do better at the urinal or cleaning out ear wax, but then I have been practicing longer. Seems none of those government websites are user friendly. All my retired friends agree. The retired pay place in Cleveland is the worst. God forbid I should ever have to change or stop an allotment. I gave up on Cleveland about 20 years ago. Used to get my retirement checks in the mail. But they finally told me, "Direct deposit, Bucko, or you get nothing".
I would love for the VA or TriCare pay the monthly fees for a Direct to Primary doctor to see the veteran and then prescribe meds and send to specialist through the VA/Tricare system. I have enhanced access to my provider and can get a tele-health or in person appointment within a week. Especially for the veterans that have a rating over 50% or are older, when patience with the “system” drives the vet nuts. Full Disclosure, I know a few DPC docs since I’m married to one…. Don’t hate me….
Yeah. Having a phone number to call with competent medical people (senior nurses) at the other end is a godsend. Especially, for Vets that aren't tech savvy.

And it just happened again. In the reply I just sent.
Sorry, I don't have a clue as to what is happening.

Fees are about $100-120 a month, and the enhanced access is worth every penny…
