First off, I would love to see Gaetz rip through the DOJ with torches and pitchforks. With all the grief that agency has given him, I will be stocking up on popcorn. 🍿

Second off, the wailing and gnashing has been most entertaining, but I have to wonder if these people never heard the expression "The shoe is on the other foot now." I've suffered through most of my life with the shoe on their stompy feet, having been born when LBJ was mismanaging two wars at once (poverty and Vietnam) and lived during the time of Carter mismanaging pretty much everything, Clinton molesting anything with XX chromosomes, Hussein wrecking the US military with his social experimentation, and finally the man, who should've stuck to wrecking smaller parts of the country as the senator from a tiny state packed to the gills with people of little sense and even less character.

So, even if the President's cabinet picks don't turn out to be all they can be, I'm enjoying the other side's tears. 😭🤷‍♂️ They earned it, IMHO.

Yeah, but. I was surprised to see Matt Gaetz nominated to be the Attorney General. I am a little miffed that I voted for the guy now. His resignation yesterday to accept the position is a slap in the face to us in his district. I think his motive for resigning was more about getting ahead of another ethics scandal in Congress...they cannot pursue the investigation and hammer him since he quit. Smart move by a clever lawyer? I never warmed up to the guy and was always suspicious of his personal integrity. He's a lawyer who favors plaid suits, right? But I do admit to being amused by his antics. He has dodged several scandals (drugs, underage girls) and I am unsure whether he was just damn lucky or it was all just some conspiracy by the Left to trash him. While he has been a holy terror to the Left and has done some "good" hit work for his party, I just don't trust the guy fully. He seems too full of himself and is too much of a firebrand for my liking. I prefer subtle. But, his take-no-prisoners style seems to work. Maybe his attack weasel style is what Trump needs in an AG. I think Gaetz is going to have a hard time getting confirmed. The Dems hate him and he has pissed off a bunch of Republicans. He may well end up without a job in January if a few RINO Senators snub him. If that happens, I hope he ends up at some strip mall doing wills and probate work. This was a poor pick by Trump, I think. Rudy Giuliani might have been better. I'm disappointed. But yeah, B.P. Writer, I think this pick needs to be milked for all the buckets full of schadenfreude it can produce. ☺

A pail of woe/To our foe/After the ho/Was told to go.

Apropos of nothing: Matt Gaetz was my Congressman for the Northwest Florida District 1. Joe Scarborough was also my Congressman. Same district. They both rose to national prominence for their political style: Arch-Conservative Pit Bulls. We all drink the same fluoridated tap water from the sand & gravel aquifer in this part of the Panhandle. The rest of Florida has a limestone aquifer. Think about it.

I hear you, Dale. He's all about the spotlight, IMHO. Can he also do a good job as AG while keeping his enjoyment of that spotlight in check? I hope so.

I suspect Gaetz's main problem is that he surrounds himself with people of low character. It's hard to deal with the flatterers, especially when you have an inflated self-image.

"Surely, they're just seeing the magnificence that is myself." 🤦‍♂️

The other main problem is that almost all Republicans in office don't understand that the art of the deal requires that you make a profit out of the deal, not a loss. The McConnell's, the Graham's, and the Pence's are losers who won't fight for their constituents. They have learned how to become the Harlem Globetrotters' opponents (I don't even know that fake team's name), always losing for what they think is good money.

Who else can President Trump count on to enact his wishes? 🤷‍♂️

Sadly, the times seem to be calling for cutthroats and iffy ne'er do wells. Quakers, Christian Gentleman and glib negotiators with Dale Carnegie training won't do this time around. Might be time for berserkers, the Kempetai and some bought and paid for Hutu's with pangas. The surgical strikes may have to be done with E tools and dynamite. Wish it weren't so, but the Republic must be saved for our grandkids. The genie has been out of the bottle for 4+ years anyway. It is sink or swim time. Just hope Trump can keep the CEP tight and the collateral damage to a minimum. (Huh. I bet many on the other side share the same sentiments. What a Cluster F.)

It would not surprise me in the least if some of this was a giant "rope a dope" to wrong-foot the Democrats and keep them distracted while some of the really big moves slide through in the background.

Hadn't considered that, Robert. Hadn't thought that Trump's style. His style is more Hey diddle-diddle. Right up the middle. I don't even want to think of cattle cars, camps and Xyklon B. Too far-fetched . Our side has a better moral compass. Before, I was thinking Good Choices/Poor Choices. Binary, either/or. Now you've posited Rope-A-Dope. Geez, just when I thought I could relax and cut back on the caffeine for 4 years. Guess I still need to remain vigilant. Thanks.

I'm actually kind of surprised myself. Trump's made some pretty smart moves over the last several months--and it paid off. When the DNC was doing its coup on Biden, he managed to keep almost uncharacteristically quiet. Maybe somewhere along the way, someone close talked some sense into him... or maybe I'm reading too much into this 🤷‍♂️

DoD needs a wake up call… maybe change the title to Department of War? I want DOGE to defund EVERY NGO on 21 January. No accountability for where the money goes and I bet a bunch of graft is going on. Revamp the military procurement process to eliminate incremental change and go for the gusto with the next generation weapons we need for the 2027 “Thrillia from Manila” that Uncle Xi wants so badly to happen. Chucky Schumer needs the “Harry Reid” treatment. Wonder if “Sancuary Cities and States” are going to get federal funding cut? It’s going to be a spicy six months for sure…. Let the Good Times Roll!!!

Defund, audit them, publish the results, prosecute criminality. It's not enough that people laid off from NGO's get to go on welfare.

Seen this elsewhere and the more I think about it, the more plausible it seems to me. Plan A is recess appointments. Gaetz gets at least almost two years to clean house. Plan B is DeSantis appointing him to fill Rubio's seat. Heck, that might be Plan A with Gaetz being a stalking horse to identify RINOs. From what I can tell, the recess appointment idea looks like it's going to work.
